Linear Transducers

CR80/85 transducers, in ENCODER-PINION-RACK version, are made of a steel support on which high quality and precision rack bars are installed. A microminiaturized "PINION-ENCODER" slided and a "cursor" on the rack, giving incremental signals that, sent to a proper electronic circuit, allow for up-down counting and thus measuring linear displacement. An upper cover, in extruded and anodized anticorodal, with autolubricating gaskets in neoprene, is screwed on the steel basic support, containing and protecting both encoder and rack and yielding a strong and reliable unit. CR80 pinions and racks are made of stainless steel.

This kind of transducer is suitable for installation on machine tools, as the coefficient of thermal expansion coefficient of the machine bed. This gives constant and repeatable measures during work and, mainly, at work restarting.

Transducers of this kind have no limits in length, and give high protection to chips, oils, and similars, so being reliable in the time. Furthermore, the measuring error is not cumulative and then independent from transducer length, as it is compensated by means of a laser interferometer, rack by rack. This transducer is less breakable than its equivalent in glass, mainly during its installation on machines. In case of possible failure, replacement of encoder in easy, as it is only necessary to withdraw the slider from the rack without removing the entire unit from the machine.

RV16 linear transducers are "GLASS" version. The line is graduated with very high precision and is housed inside a strong extrudel structural aluminium. Glass line is fixed to aluminium housing in an elastic way, for all the housing lenght, to be protected against vibrations and thermal expansion. RV16 linear transducer are very thin (just 16 mm) and for short length are cheaper than mod. CR80.
