The S3NP-Gateway couples Sercos real-time Ethernet busses with standard Ethernet networks. It allows an easy connection of Sercos-based control systems with the IT world and the integration of non-real-time capable peripheral devices equipped with a standard Ethernet port. The exchange of process- and job-data between machine control and MES or ERP systems can thus be carried out without installing any additional communication interfaces. Peripheral devices with Ethernet interface as operator panels, marking systems, RFID readers etc. can use the S3NP-Gateway to communicate directly with the machine controller via TCP/IP or any other standardized protocol.
The device is another member of the proven S3EC family. The S3NP-Gateway has two Sercos ports and one standard Ethernet port to connect peripheral devices or LAN access points directly or through an Ethernet switch. For communication over the Sercos bus the standardized UC channel (UCC) is used. It enables the transmission of Ethernet telegrams in parallel with the Sercos real-time data. The S3NP-Gateway is a passive device does not act as slave on the Sercos bus. This makes installation easy and avoids configuration effort.
